Hiking Trip - Al Dimane Hike - Annoubine

    Nestled between the Becharre and Zgharta districts in the North Governorate of Lebanon, Qadisha Valley is a deeply sacred and historical region. Carved by the Qadisha River (also known as Nahr Abu Ali as it flows towards Tripoli), the valley has been a spiritual haven for centuries. The name "Qadisha," meaning "Holy" in Aramaic, reflects its profound significance as a sanctuary for Christian monastic communities throughout history.

    Rich in cultural and spiritual heritage, the valley is home to ancient caves, rock shelters, and a network of chapels, hermitages, and monasteries carved into the cliffs. Recognizing its immense historical and cultural value, UNESCO has inscribed the valley and its cave churches on the World Heritage List. The valley offers visitors approximately 13 different trails, each providing a unique experience of its natural beauty and spiritual ambiance.

    During our visit, we will explore key sites such as Deir Saidet Annoubine, St. Marina, and Deir Mar Licha, passing through Dimane depending on the selected hiking route. The hike is divided into two levels:
    • Levels 2 & 4: The journey begins at the Mar Lichaa entrance, following a 3-kilometer trail to the Lady of Annoubine Monastery. After a brief rest, participants can choose to either return to the bus on foot or via a shuttle service within the valley.
    • Level 6: The hike starts from Dimane, the summer residence of the Maronite Patriarch, and leads to Annoubine village. Along the way, we will visit Deir Saidet Annoubine and St. Marina, before gathering at a local restaurant in the Holy Valley for a traditional Lebanese lunch.

    After lunch, the journey will continue towards Mar Licha for further exploration.

    PRICE: $60 per person including transport, guides, insurance and lunch.

    WHAT TO GET: Light snacks that will boost up your energy such as dried fruits, water, cap, sunglasses and sunscreen. Wear comfortable shoes such as hiking shoes and always keep a windproof jacket in your backpack.

    SPECIAL RATES:
    - Children with the age of 10 and younger will have a discount of $5.
    - Children/ Teenagers between the age of 11 and 18 will have a discount of $4.
    - University students will have a discount of $3 provided that they present their university card.
    - Groups with 5 to 9 persons, with different criteria than the above, will get a $2 discount.
    - Groups with 10 or more persons, with different criteria than the above, will get a $3 discount.

    PAYMENT TERMS:
    - Cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged half-price
    - Reservations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged an extra $2.
    (e.g. Cancelling or booking for a Sunday’s event on Saturday will be subject to the above terms)

    ESSENTIAL ECOTOURISTIC RULES & REGULATIONS
    - Smoking is strictly prohibited during the event
    - Always follow the guide on the designated trail
    - Do not go off road without notifying the guide
    - Do not get close to a cliff especially when the guide in charge tells you not to do so
    - Although accidents are covered by the insurance but they remain under the responsibility of the member
    - Sometimes, due to reasons beyond our control, slight modifications to the program may occur. Ecotourism rules must be followed, otherwise personal accidents will not be accounted for by the insurance.
