Hiking Trip - Ain Ebel Hike - South District

  • Ain Ebel – the bride of the South

Located in southern Lebanon, less than 5km from the Lebanese-Palestinian border, Ain Ebel is a splendid historical village known for its beautiful nature and stunning views of the surrounding landscape. With its plentiful natural water wells, Ain Ebel has been a site of human habitation from prehistoric to present times, and is now home to tens of thousands of olive trees, some of which are hundreds of years old.

Our hike will be divided into two levels to suit everyone.
Moderate and Easy levels will start all together on a trail taking through Ain Ebel’s mountains and valleys, where we will discover the new trails inaugurated earlier this year.

Our way we will get the chance to visit a 17th century old church, historic Ain (natural source of water) and grape presses dating back to the Romano-Byzantine period, as well as a significant archeological hill called Doueir that combines the beauty and history of the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Islamic, and Ottoman eras. An easier option will be given during our walk for those who wish to take their time contemplating the gorgeous landscape of the area.

We will all get the chance to visit the rich cultural, historical, and archaeological sites present in the village and in its surroundings, namely Our Mother of Light. A unique shrine of the Mother of Light carrying her baby Jesus, sitting 60.3m above ground, and offering an incredible 360 view from the top.

Finally, all levels will meet for a special lunch featuring southern delicacies, expertly prepared by the locals using homemade ingredients, along with fresh juice, seasonal fruits, and coffee.

Our hiking event in Ain Ebel is not just a hike in beautiful nature, but a cultural tour as well. It is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture, meet friendly locals, and discover the hidden gems of this beautiful region.

Join us for an unforgettable experience in the South of Lebanon!
