Hike & Workshop - Khenchara Hike & Beekeeping Workshop - Metn District

  • Khenchara Hike & Beekeeping Workshop

Join us for a unique experience in Khenchara village, where we’ll explore the stunning natural beauty of the area while participating in a hands-on beekeeping workshop.

Our adventure begins at the historic Moukarzel Hotel, one of the oldest hotels in the region, offering breathtaking panoramic views from Mount Sannine to Jabal el Kneise and even Beirut. From there, we’ll wander among the towering pine trees as we make our way to the village's main water spring, Ain el Smaydiyye.

Continuing our journey, we’ll pass by another spring, Beit Ayal, before arriving at a grape molasses press located next to an ancient, unknown historical tomb. Our trek will then take us to Sheer el Habes, or the “Prison Cliff,” a site believed to have been used by the Ottoman Empire to hold hostages.

After this exploration, we’ll descend into the Khenchara valley, where our friend and local beekeeper, Mazen Bou Monsef, will lead us in a beekeeping session by his hives. You’ll discover the incredible world of bees, learning about their essential role in nature and the continuity of life.

We’ll also have the opportunity to taste and purchase two distinct types of honey, gaining insights into their differences and tips on how to select the best honey.

N.B.: Each participant will receive a protective beekeeping suit. Please wear high shoes that cover your ankles; everything else will be provided. Join us for this unforgettable day in Khenchara!
