Tour and Dinner - Saida Tour & Iftar - Saida District

  • “Religion is a candle inside a multicolored lantern. Everyone looks through a particular color, but the candle is always there.”

    During Ramadan, as you all know by now, we organize a get-together for an Iftar. This year, our Iftar will include a cultural visit in Saida. Saida was one of the most important Phoenician cities, and may have been the oldest. There are many landmarks to visit. Our focus will be on the following:

    - Sidon Sea Castle: The Crusades built it in 1228AD on a huge rock in the sea where-upon the Phoenicians had built a temple previously.

    - Audi Soap Museum: The factory dates back to the 17th century, and is now ransformed into a museum.

    - Debbane Palace: Debbane Palace is a historical residence built in 1721 AD and is open for the public for visitors to witness the Arab-Ottoman architecture and details of that era.

    - Historical Catholic Church (under renovation): It was a soap factory, then transformed into a church in the year 1616.

    - Historical Roman Orthodox Church (if open): Its date of construction is unknown. However, it is believed that it was constructed over the debris of an older church.

    - Old Souk: Between the Sea Castle and the Castle of St. Louis stretches the old town and a picturesque vaulted old market.

    - Khan el Franj: was built by Emir Fakhreddine in the 17th century to accommodate French merchants and goods in order to develop trade with Europe. This is a typical khan with a large rectangular courtyard and a central fountain surrounded by covered galleries.

    After such an interesting and cultural tour of the city, we will go to the iftar in a nice restaurant, where the tables are set outside in the garden with greenery and water fountains.

    • Get your own light snack that will boost your stamina and keep you energetic.
    • Equip yourself with your own water bottles a cap and sunscreen.
    • Distancing from each other is a must, offering or sharing snacks are not encouraged. Keep a windproof jacket in your backpack.

    WHAT TO GET: Light snacks that will boost up your energy such as dried fruits, water, cap, sunglasses and sunscreen.

    SPECIAL RATES:
    - Children with the age of 10 and younger will have a discount of 30’000 LBP (provided that they come with their parents)
    - Children/ Teenagers between the age of 11 and 18 will have a discount of 20’000 LBP (provided that they come with their parents)
    - University students will have a discount of 20’000 LBP provided that they present their university card
    - Groups with 5 to 9 persons, with different criteria than the above, will get a 5’000 LBP discount
    - Groups with 10 or more persons, with different criteria than the above, will get a 10’000 LBP discount

    PAYMENT TERMS:
    - Cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged half-price
    - Reservations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged an extra 20’000 LBP
    (e.g. Cancelling or booking for a Sunday’s event on Saturday will be subject to the above terms)

    ESSENTIAL ECOTOURISTIC RULES & REGULATIONS
    - Sometimes, due to reasons beyond our control, slight modifications to the program may occur. Ecotourism rules must be followed, otherwise personal accidents will not be accounted for by the insurance.
